How does one scoop compare to buying each active separately?
Replicating the Settl formula from standalone products means buying 6 to 7 separate items and dosing each one yourself, every night. One scoop of Settl carries all seven actives at fixed, printed doses for $3.33 a night on subscription.
That is the short answer. The longer answer is worth seeing in full, because the interesting part is not the total, it's what each active looks like when it lives in its own bottle.

Count it up. Even letting the electrolyte powder cover both sodium and potassium, that is six products: two or three bulk powders, two or three bottles of capsules, and a teabag or capsule for the chamomile. Each with its own tub, its own scoop or capsule count, its own reorder date.
Are the standalone products bad?
No. Most of them are perfectly good, and if you already run a stack you're happy with, keep running it. I ran one for years.
The case for Settl was never that separate supplements don't work. It's that almost nobody keeps a six-product routine going. The night you're tired is exactly the night you skip the measuring, and a wind-down you skip on tired nights is a wind-down that isn't doing its job.
What actually goes wrong with a DIY stack
Three things, in my experience, and none of them is the ingredients.
The measuring. Bulk powders mean scooping and eyeballing three separate tubs at 10pm. Glycine alone is a 3,000mg dose, which is why it comes as a powder, not a practical capsule count.
The guessing. Standalone products dose to their own label, not to your stack. You end up doing the arithmetic yourself: how much elemental magnesium is actually in this capsule, how much chamomile survives the trip from teabag to cup. Settl prints one panel, and every dose on it is the dose in the glass.
The reordering. Six products run out on six different dates. The stack quietly degrades as bottles empty, and most people never rebuild it in full.
What one scoop covers
